Icing Product Review

08 January 2012
After my first review of two Icing products, a comment made me incredibly curious to try out more. I don't know if their BOGO50% sales are those permanent sales that go continuously or if they have end dates, but most of these products were part of these sales and the blush was on clearance. I like all of the eye products and neither of the lip products, sadly. I am really looking forward to trying out the nail polishes. And, what w/ the surprising quality of the eye products, more of those as well.

There's not too much else that can be said, so let's just get this started!

I'm going to start out w/ the lip products because I was pretty disappointed in both of them. I purchased two different types and I doubt I'll get either types again. Both of the glosses were thin and slippery feeling, like putting oil on your lips. My other problem was the lack of pigmentation and staying power. When applied to the lips, the glosses were both essentially clear and felt pretty gross on.

The purple gloss is a standard lip gloss but the other one is called Lip Chemistry and is one of those mood type of glosses, that supposedly change colors based on body temperature or something. I have never noticed this particular gloss changing colors ever.

"Bright Purple".

"Love Reaction".

These glosses swatch on the hand okay, but they're honestly sub-par glosses. At least as far as shade goes.

I got another one of those rose blushes, partly because it was on clearance, and partly just because they're pretty. This is a much lighter cool pink color than the first one I purchased. It has a subtle shimmer to it. They also have the same type of scent, which is vaguely rose scented w/ a powder scent to it. I like these blushes quite a lot. They're super cheap but pigmented and the color blends nicely. I think the only downside is that they're very soft and powdery so you need to be careful as to how much product you get on your brush. The bummer is that these blushes don't have names.

The last couple products are eye products. I'm going to start w/ the eye primer. It comes in the click pen applicator w/ a brush tip and the tip is pretty cheaply made. This product is also a slight bit hard to blend out fully evenly. It's easier to use the brush than the finger, which is strange for a creamy product, haha. But it has a pretty good staying power and it also really does intensify shadows that you apply over it. Unfortunately, this product has no name.

I was quite surprised by this product, actually. It works and it works pretty well. It works extremely well for smoky eyes, which was its intended purpose but it also works really well underneath more colorful shadows. It has a charcoal gray color w/ a shimmer and sets rather fast, so it works better to apply w/ a dabbing motion rather than trying to blend it into the skin.

As you can see by this swatch, it doesn't blend as easily as other primers. That being said, it still works rather well.

Finally, I purchased two shadows. The first one is one of those Extreme Shimmer shadows that I purchased in duo form in the first blog. If you've read that post you'll know that I like these shadows a lot. They have a strange consistency that's a bit hard to explain but they have good staying power and pigmentation and they blend really nicely. This one has quite the tacky packaging, w/ that huge fake rhinestone stuck on the packaging. It's not even centered! That being said, this color is freaking amazing. This shadow has no name.

The second shadow I purchased is a baked shadow called "None Too Shy" and I love the color. It's like Urban Decay's "Fishnet" or MAC's "Stars N Rockets" shadows but it doesn't have the blue duochrome to it. The pink/purple color w/ the blue duochrome has become a very popular shadow and lots of brands make a shadow like this. I like baked shadows and this shadow is nicely pigmented and it also blends well. I definitely want to try more of these shadows.

Hopefully, this was helpful to someone. I recommend trying out Icing products and I'm really excited to try out more from this brand!
